35, Male, 5’10, white, sinus infection going on 2 years and today I had an in office balloon sinusplasty. Things did not go in the least as they were described. I just want to make sure something didn’t go horribly wrong.
I’ve had a sinus infection on half of my face for almost two years. Doctor said he wanted to do both sides. Left side was easy peasey. Maybe a 2 out of 10 on the pain scale for brief periods. Lasted for maybe 10 minutes.
Holy shit on the right side. I’m sure there’s shit that’s more painful, but it was a 9 out 10. This was the most intense pain I have ever felt in my entire life and it took almost an hour instead of the 10 minutes on the right side. Numbing wasn’t doing shit. Felt sober as shit despite being on vicodin and halcion once that pain hit. I was in tears for most of the procedure. Almost vommitted. Hacked up two pieces of flesh that were each larger than a chicken nugget. People kept coming in the room to watch and once doc was done he just said something along the lines of it was a little more complicated but he’s happy with the results and walked out never to be seen again. I’m a army veteran and I was crying like a school girl. As soon as my wife saw me she flipped her shit because she kept asking what was going on since it was supposed to be over at 3:30 and it was 4:30 and that didn’t tell her anything. I would never ever ever consider doing this in office again. Put me the fuck out. This much pain was never mentioned. It’s now almost 3 hours since I left the doc’s office and blood is still dripping out of my nose. Took 2 extra vicodin on way home and can still fill the tingle of pain in my entire skull.
Basically, what the fuck? Was this normal? I can only imagine what it’s going to feel like when the 7 vicodin I have left are gone. If this is normal that should never be an in office procedure.
